Population Density and Service Class
A “robust” regression method was used to relate the six service class measure and county-level demographic characteristics to the measures of domestic violence need. The single largest predictor of the need for family violence services is the population density of a county. Across every marker for need it became clear that those counties with the greatest population density exhibit an increased need for family violence service. This factor should represent a key component in planning for comprehensive service delivery in those areas with either a high population density currently or as community growth emerges.
