Toolkit for Child Custody Mediators
The 85th Texas Legislature (2017) passed Senate Bill 539, requiring a minimum of four hours of domestic violence training for child custody mediators. This one-time training requirement set forth the minimum amount of education for mediation professionals on domestic violence consistent with child and survivor safety perspectives.
This four-part web-based toolkit meets the new requirements under the Texas Civil Practice and Remedies Code 154.052 for child custody mediators.
Receipt of training is not intended to be construed as an endorsement of the mediation process for all survivors of domestic violence.
This training was created in December of 2017. Professionals are encouraged to connect with TCFV and local domestic violence services for updates and utilize this curriculum tool kit to provide and supplement in-person trainings. TCFV Policy staff is available to provide support and technical assistance to trainers as well as local DV programs that are interested in providing the training to their communities. TCFV Policy staff may be available to offer this training in person at state-wide and other large forums. Contact email@example.com with any questions about the training.
