Got It

This three module online training series, developed over the first half of 2020, meets the requirement for child custody mediation professionals to have a minimum of four hours of family violence dynamics training developed in consultation with a statewide family violence advocacy organization per the Texas Civil Practice and Remedies Code Chapter 154.052.

These training hours may also go towards the eight hours of family violence dynamics training required for other Texas child custody professionals, including parenting coordinators (TEXFAM 153.610), parenting facilitators (TEXFAM 153.6101) and child custody evaluators (TEXFAM 107.04).

Additional Support

Alternative Training Forums

We recognize the diversity of expertise and experience among child custody professionals as well as the limitations associated with a static, online format to cover such dynamic and complex topics. We strongly encourage professionals to connect with TCFV and local domestic violence service providers for updates, to discuss practical considerations and referral and other partnership opportunities.

TCFV Policy staff are available to provide support and technical assistance to local Domestic Violence (DV) programs that are interested in providing domestic violence training for child custody mediators themselves to their communities.

Non-DV program trainers may use the downloadable presentation (PowerPoint slide deck) and downloadable supplemental resources to create their own training and are highly to encouraged to partner with local DV programs to provide this training. Only individuals who have registered through TCFV’s Coalition Manager for this training series may access, view, or utilize the videos.

TCFV Policy staff may be available to offer this training live at state-wide and other large forums. Contact policy@tcfv.org  with any questions about the training.
