This training is free of cost and will offer 1.5 CEUs for Social Work, LPC and LMFT.

Additional Information

Barbra Grimmer, Child Welfare Policy Coordinator, will discuss the work TCFV is doing with child-welfare stakeholders to support advocates working with survivor-parents who are involved with Child Protective Services. Also joining, Sarah Lehman, ADVANCE Advocacy Coordinator with Denton County Friends of the Family (DCFOF) and Carmen Charles, Non-Residential Children’s Program Coordinator with The Family Place, to walk advocates through real experiences and successes in supporting survivor-parents involved with Child Protective Services, evaluating the complex needs of children exposed to family violence, and a collaborative approach in responding to their unique needs.

Supporting children and parents with limited resources and funding can at times feel like an overwhelming feat for advocates. This training will offer insight, tools, and resources that can strengthen your advocacy while supporting staff capacity to reach survivor-parents and their children in meaningful, supportive ways as early and as consistently as possible.

This training will accommodate language interpretation and translation, including ASL. If you are in need of an accommodation, please send your request to HKlug@TCFV.org by Friday, February 9, 2024. If your request is not received by this date, we will not be able to guarantee the accommodation.
