Capitol Day

Each Legislative session, the Texas Council on Family Violence and the Texas Association Against Sexual Assault host Capitol Day! Join us to tell our legislators that Texans care about the safety of survivors of family violence and sexual assault. We’ll ask them to take a stand for full funding of vital support services and spread the message that love shouldn’t hurt.

Do you know who your Texas State Representative and Senator are? Watch this webisode to find out! You can visit their offices on Capitol Day and stand with Texas survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.

The day’s activities start off with a rally and press conference and will include gathering at a tent on the Capitol’s southwest lawn for a briefing from TCFV and TAASA and food and entertainment before heading inside to visit with legislators. Everyone will have the opportunity to make visits with their legislators in support of funding for family violence and sexual assault services. Sharing your story and perspective regarding family violence funding with your legislator makes all the difference – and we’ll provide you with all the facts and statistics you need!

Don’t forget to bring your posters sharing the message love shouldn’t hurt – we look forward to seeing you there!
