Engaging youth and teens is a cornerstone of prevention work. Young Hearts Matter is a Texas campaign that promotes the work of young leaders and adult allies in creating a state where healthy relationships are the norm.

Join our Young Hearts Matter Youth Leadership Board! Young people in Texas between the ages of 15-19 are encouraged to apply. Email the Prevention Team at prevention@tcfv.org.

Resources for Teens & Young People |

Creative Action for Equality | is a youth engagement project in Texas. Inspire change by making art, teaching others and paving the way to a world where no one is ever hurt by someone they love.

Love Is Respect | is a free confidential helpline, available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for teens and young people who have questions or concerns about their relationship.

RAINN | offers 24/7 confidential support for sexual assault survivors.

Suicide Prevention Lifeline | is a free, confidential line offering support to those in suicidal crisis or emotional distress.

That’s Not Cool |is an interactive resource which provides information about digital boundaries and healthy online communication.

The National Domestic Violence Hotline | is available 24/7 for support, resources, and more.

The Trevor Project | is a leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ youth.

Resources for Parents & Caregivers |

AHA! Parenting | provides resources for children at any age by Dr. Laura Markham, a trained clinical psychologist at Columbia University.

Empowering Parents | offers parents resources and articles that surround many parenting issues, specifically bullying.

Hand in Hand Parenting | is a training organization that gives parents practical tools to resolve universal family challenges. 

Love is Not Abuse | is a handbook for parents that provides conversation starters and tips on talking to teens about healthy relationships and abuse.

The Be Project | is a prevention program from The Family Place in Dallas that includes links and information for parents concerned about teen dating abuse. 

2019 Young Hearts Matter Award Winners

Young Hearts Matter is celebrated during February with three special awards every year—Activist of the Year, Advocate of the Year, and Texas Partner for Change.

This year, Isaiah Rogers received the Activist of the Year award .

Damariz Medina received the Advocate of the Year award.

The Texas Partner for Change Award went to the Hidalgo County Criminal District Attorney’s office.
