Starting with their initial meeting in January 2026, members examined the top lethality risk factors for family violence homicides: stalking, strangulation and firearms, as well as other contributing risk factors. In their work together, the taskforce will review research, learn from survivor experiences, and discuss system and community-based responses related to family violence homicide prevention, investigation and prosecution, as well as survivor services. At the conclusion of their work, the taskforce will issue systemic recommendations to reduce and prevent family violence homicides, including policy proposals for the 90th legislative session, and potentially other guidance on training, system responses and service coordination.
This page will share monthly blog updates on the taskforce’s progress and key takeaways, as well as summaries of the taskforce’s work on each lethality risk factor. Please reach out to policy@tcfv.org with any questions related to these updates or our policy advocacy efforts.
