The Facilitator will:
-Provide key updates on recent changes to Chapter 51 of the Texas Human Resources Code.
-Discuss regulatory changes in Chapter 356 of the Texas Administrative Code.
-Revisit the foundational principles of voluntary services and trauma-informed advocacy, especially as it pertains to the new service model requirement.

Our Facilitator:

Krista Varney is a Licensed Master Social Worker and a passionate advocate for survivors of gender-based violence. She currently serves as a Policy Manager at the Texas Council on Family Violence, bringing more than a decade of experience across outreach, prevention, advocacy, and both residential and nonresidential services. Krista began her career as a legal advocate in Western New York and has since held leadership roles at several domestic violence and sexual assault programs in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. Her expertise also extends to coordinated community response teams, policy development, and serving as an expert witness in domestic violence criminal cases.
