Our Facilitator:

Maria Jose Angelelli, M.A. has more than 43 years of experience working to end intimate partner abuse and serves as Director of Support to Service Providers at the Texas Council on Family Violence. She oversees statewide training initiatives, programmatic audits of Battering Intervention and Prevention Programs (BIPP), and provides technical assistance, consultations, and customized trainings to family violence and BIPP service providers across Texas. Maria José is nationally recognized for her leadership and has been honored by the National Crime Victims’ Rights organization, the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, and KVUE Austin’s Five Who Care. Bilingual and bicultural, she holds two bachelor’s degrees and a Master of Arts from The University of Texas at Austin. Her expertise focuses on parenting in the context of family violence, including work with survivors, individuals who cause harm, and supporting family violence agencies during natural disasters.

Cathy Henzen brings over 30 years of leadership and frontline experience in the nonprofit sector, with a career dedicated to supporting individuals and families impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, and intimate partner violence. She has served in program management, operations, executive leadership, and direct service, giving her a comprehensive understanding of how to build, sustain, and strengthen services across an organization. Her work has consistently focused on improving survivor centered responses while ensuring programs meet regulatory standards. Cathy has spent more than 25 years training advocates, law enforcement, healthcare providers, and community partners on trauma informed care, the dynamics of domestic and sexual violence, and compassionate engagement with survivors. She has also worked extensively to strengthen collaborative partnerships across communities, bringing together key stakeholders to improve coordinated responses and outcomes for survivors. Cathy continues to bring her experience into spaces that value thoughtful leadership, meaningful systems change, and genuine respect for lived experience.
Continuing Education Units
We will offer 2 CEU hours for SW, LMFT, and LPC and TDCJ-CJAD 1 BIPP and 1 FV hours. Please make sure to select the type of CEU you need when you register.
